About 3books

How it works

You pick 3 books, in order. We show you the readers who picked the same ones. A rare book in common counts for more than a bestseller, and a book you both ranked the same counts a little more. Only you can see your matches.

Who can see what

Private shelves are seen by no one. They have no profile page and don't appear in other readers' matches, on book pages or in search.

Public shelves have a profile page that shows your display name, username, city, bio, links and 3 books to anyone. You appear in other readers' matches and on book pages. You can switch in Settings at any time.

X handles are added by readers and aren't verified. Before you follow someone, check that their X profile looks like the same person. To report a profile, use the link at the bottom of it.

What we store

• Your 3 books, your profile details and whether your shelf is public.
• Your city, if you add one: its name, country and the coordinates of its centre.
• Your email address, used only to sign you in. It is never shown to anyone, including on your profile.
• If you sign in with Google: your Google account ID and name.

We don't use advertising or third-party trackers. The only cookie keeps you signed in. We never post anything for you.

Deleting your account

Delete your account in Settings at any time. Your shelf, profile and sign-in details are removed immediately and permanently.

Credits

Book details and covers come from Open Library. City search uses Open-Meteo with data from GeoNames, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
